Tesla Coils

Tesla coils produce lightning like sparks. And still some people ask "what is it for?"! Not only are they beautiful in operation, but they are excellent teaching tools. And kids of all ages like to see a Tesla coil in operation and find them fascinating, a key ingredient to fun science! The top picture shows a coil I threw together to test my new controller and MMC. As you can see, it is wearing a "kitchen sink" topload. The second image shows it in action, minus some of the kitchen sink.
